Iedere maand nodigen wij een nieuwe (film)maker uit om eigen werk te presenteren, in combinatie met een film die voor hen een inspiratiebron is of belangstelling heeft. In december kijken wij door de ogen van Kyle Williams (*2004), die speciaal voor ons vanuit Londen zal komen om zijn eerste korte film ‘Our House’ in première te laten gaan. Kyle is een Britse acteur, schrijver en regisseur. Komend jaar hoopt hij zijn debuut speelfilm te maken; Our House  is een 'proof of concept' en wordt vertoont in combinatie met de minimalistische underground horror ‘The Animal’ van Walter Ungerer, 1976. 

Kyle: "Met The Animal vertelt Walter Ungerer je niet dat er een monster om de hoek staat. En als je dan toch om die hoek loopt, is er geen monster. Sterker nog: er is niet eens een hoek, niet eens de suggestie daarvan, laat staan een monster. En toch is het eng..."

Every month we invite a (film)maker to present their own work, together with a film that inspired them or holds special meaning for them. In december we'll look through the eyes of Kyle Williams (*2004), who is coming over from London to premiere his first short film Our House at Supermercator. Kyle is a British actor, writer, and director, who next year hopes to make his debut feature film. Our House is it's 'proof of concept' and will be shown together with the minimalist underground horror film The Animal  by Walter Ungerer, 1976.

Ungerer was working far outside the mainstream and that freedom matters. He treats horror not as entertainment but as an atmosphere, a psychological temperature. The film’s long silences, grainy textures and its refusal to explain itself, leave you in a state of alertness that you can’t quite shake. 

Kyle: "With The Animal, Walter Ungerer doesn’t tell you there’s a monster around the corner and when you walk around that corner, there isn’t one. In fact, there isn’t even a corner, or the suggestion of one, let alone the monster. But somehow it’s still scary..."
